Girl Scout Cookie Booths Are Awesome!

Patty and her fellow Girl Scouts kicked off Cookie Booth Season 2014 with a bang!
The weather was awesome, sunny and sixty, and the cookies were flying off the table!  We put together this cool little "bling your cookie booth" stand (made of PVC pipe, foam core, and recycled cookie boxes) and the girls stayed busy coloring a Sales Goal sign and asking everyone "would you like to buy some Girl Scout Cookies?"  So proud!  And I'm happy to report they more than doubled the goal of 100 boxes by selling an awesome 202 boxes today!  Way to go Girl Scouts!!!!!  One cookie booth down.....five to go!

International Samoas

I don't know if the title of this post is fitting, but I did ship a box of Samoas from right here in Kentucky to a blogging friend in Germany!  I was so tickled to pull up Joy's website this morning and read her post about the cookies!  Joy had mentioned there are no Girl Scout cookies in Germany, so I knew I had to send her a box.  The world wide web really does make it a small world, doesn't it?

I kind of worried about sending these highly addictive cookies to Joy in case she really loved them.  I mean, is there anything worse than a craving for something you just can not get?  But, like it was fate or something, Patty's troop got to see photos of Girl Scouts from around the world as part of World Thinking Day.  A German troop was featured in the presentation so I did a quick search and found that there are overseas Girl Scout troops!  Not sure how far Joy is from a US Military installation, but next January, that would be the place to look for more cookies!

I'm so happy to know the cookies made the trip, that Joy liked them, and that hopefully she won't have to go without cookies any longer!  Joy, if you find a troop with cookies over there, you have to try the Tagalongs!

Return to the Land of the Living

Whew.  Patty shared her cold with me last week and I was down for the count!  Thank goodness I made a turn for the better on Sunday and am happy to say I feel quite recovered today!  Although, I am wondering if that ground hog got it right, 'cause in my neck of the woods, it's not looking spring just yet.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow, not because it's Valentine's day, but because it's Girl Scout Cookie arrival day!  I've been dreaming of those little yummies since Patty brought home the order sheet.  I wish I possessed the restraint (and the bank roll) to stock up on a year's worth of my favorites, but I am afraid I'd eat them all and gain, like, a zillion pounds by spring break!  I'm picturing Tim Allen in the Santa Clause, remember that one?

I am happy to report that I finished off the Beautiful Creatures books during my illness last week.  Now I have to patiently wait for the final book to arrive in paperback.  Can someone tell me why can't you find a release date when you need one?  I've been pretty pleased with this series, though, once I got into it.  It reminds me a lot more of Harry Potter than Twilight, and hardly at all like True Blood, but it's been a nice read.  I did discover that there were some serious changes made for the movie adaptation.  I'm never too fond of that, but I gotta say the movie preview looks good.  Think I can get Casey to take me to see it for Valentine's Day?

I grabbed a copy of Safe Haven, the newest book to movie offering of Nicholas Sparks.  Have you noticed how many of his books have become major movies?  To think it all started with A Walk to Remember, which I read and made Casey take me to see at the theatre.  We were the youngest people there.  That's partly because I have this thing about going to the matinee instead of a night show, but I remember it was just us and a bunch of grown up ladies; all of us crying into our popcorn!  Wow, that was eleven years ago.  I feel old all of a sudden.

Oh, and I am looking forward to the Valentine's snack for Patty's class tomorrow.  I was so proud of  her writing her friends names on their Valentine's cards.  Sure, some of them were hard to read, but she did it all by herself!  And we ended up two cards short of having enough for everyone, but thankfully I found one lonely box at the mart yesterday!

I know it's kind of late to mention new year's resolutions, but I wonder if anyone ever resolves to win the lottery?  I'd elaborate on that, but JT is in the bathroom with the door closed and i hear a clicking sound i can't identify.  Wait, i think that's my birth control pill...gotta go!

Two Photos, One Thank You

So, what do these two photos have in common?
Well, besides those adorable faces and the snow.
They merge together to make one super cute thank you card!

I'm really happy with how this turned out.  Only wish I had brightened Patty's face a little.
Now, just have to supervise these two with the new sharpie I grabbed today for 49-cents!
Plus, I got the prints for 9-cents each at Walgreens.  Love nine-cent prints!
Since I needed 100 to score that price,
I did these little Girl Scout Cookie thank you reminders, too.

I'll have Patty autograph these too and get them out to everyone who ordered cookies.
That's her school photo from last fall.  Speaking of school pictures.  Did you check your packet for a Shutterfly coupon code?  Patty and JT both received a $20 code in their Lifetouch packets.  And they expire January 31st so I need to make myself a note to do something with them soon!

Your Girl Scout Cookie Hookup

It's Girl Scout Cookie Time!

Well, it's almost Girl Scout Cookie Time.  For our area, the big day appears to be January 1st!  There is no better time to find your cookie hookup!  But, wait, it gets better!  There's a Cookie Finder App!  How cool is that?  Just search for Cookie Finder and look for the Girl Scout logo.  Bonus:  it's free!

Having my very own little Girl Scout this year means I won't have to stalk Walmart for the cookie tables!  I am very happy about that!

So, let's get down to business:  what's your favorite cookie?  Hands down, I'm a Tagalong fan.  I tried those Thin Mints just to see what the big deal was and I just didn't like them.  But, I did see this Thanks-A-Lot cookie on the app and have to say that it sounds pretty yummy.  I'll have to pick up a box of those this year, too.  But, the tried and true Tagalong will always top my cookie list!

My cousin Katie, sent me this link and I was super happy to see that you can subscribe by email.  Which I did, because, I mean, I need another email subscription!

I wanted to link up to a "how to freeze Girl Scout Cookies" article from the web, but I didn't really find anything other than simply throw the unopened box in the freezer.  Easy-peasey!
