FTSF: When it comes to reality tv shows I...

Finish the Sentence Friday
Happy Friday, y'all.  This is my first attempt at linking up to anything, so bear with me if this doesn't get where it's supposed to go today!  But, after reading a couple of these Finish the Sentence Friday topics I thought it'd be nice to throw my towel in, too!  So, here it goes.....

When it comes to reality tv shows I....
am a huge fan of several series!

My absolute favorite reality series will always be Survivor, probably because Casey and I watch it together.  Casey deployed after the season premiere in 2010 so I dutifully recorded the episodes and we watched them when he returned.  Since we loved that experience so much, we record the entire season and then watch episodes back to back over a few days rather than being in suspense week after week!  The next season is set to premiere in just a few weeks, I better get the DVR ready!

I can't recall exactly how we heard about My Big Redneck Vacation, but the third season just premiered last Saturday.  The show chronicles the adventures of a proud redneck family from Louisiana appropriately named the Clampets.  Love it.

Oh, and who can forget Honey Boo Boo.  I just can't help myself, this show is strangely addictive.  I can never decide if someone should call social services, or if they should be applauded for their unusual antics.

Next week: ”The most-memorable Valentine’s Day I ever had was…”

  2. My best friend was selected for Survivor: Cook's Island. She was second or third to go and that's all the survivor I ever watched.

    2. kenya, that is so awesome. i'm guessing our friend didn't have the greatest survivor experience! i love the show but would never dream of giving it a try! i tried to leave a comment on your FTSF post but don't know if it went through!

  3. I have a weird fondness for some reality TV shows that are "my husband's and my" special shows that we watch. It's nice to have shows that you watch together; even if we watch some really bad ones sometimes, it is still our "together" time at the end of the day. Your first link up- hooray! Thanks for picking #FTSF to take the plunge!

    1. i want to audition for your reality show! i'd love to have the experiences that come with reality shows, but i don't think i could handle having the people around all the time. this mommy requires quiet time!

  5. Funny how Survivor and American Idol seem to be the two that inspire some sort of family tradition. For me it was going to my Aunt's house for dinner with her and my Mom on Thursday nights to watch with them when I was living in New Orleans. Sometimes one of my cousins would throw a finale party too. :) [#FTSF]

    1. i totally get the family tradition thing. my husband's first deployment was to korea and i used to watch survivor every week with my in-laws. when the challenges got super intense my mom-in-law would have to go to the kitchen until it was over. i totally get her "this has me on pins and needles" feeling now! i think i kind of watch it in tribute to her, all these years later!

  6. Misty! So awesome to see you on this link up. You rock! So, Honey Boo Boo, huh? I could say "I don't get it" but since I've never seen it, and you're the third person who says it's worth it, I'll have to check it out. I can't watch stuff like Survivor. I can't handle the bug-eating. Shudder.

    1. lol. i hate those food challenges! but, they haven't had one of those in a few seasons. you should totally tune in to the new season in a couple weeks. and you just have to watch at least one episode of Boo Boo. i can only think to say, it's like watching a train wreck and you can't look away. i love how they have the closed captioning on the screen for translation! i gotta get over to your blog and get caught up!

  7. Misty - I would very much like to forget Honey Boo Boo!!! My wife and I decided to watch it (since I'd made so many jokes about it) and what a catastrophe!!!! The poor kid will grow up to be a convenience store assistant manager one day, and the brunt of every schoolhouse joke for years. Why does the movie "What ever happened to Baby Jane" come to mind? (Bette Davis she's not!) lol Great post!

    1. somehow my comment didn't post! going to have to do my homework and watch that Bette Davis movie! i have to give credit to momma june for not taking their reality tv money and moving them into a gigantic home or shelling out mega bucks on designer clothes. so far, it's like their life hasn't been changed at all! which is what makes the show so horribly wonderful to watch! btw, i just subscribed to your blog by email!

  11. I've never seen My Big Redneck Vacation, and while I live in redneck territory and it should be on my list of viewing choices, I think I have enough to watch for the time being. In fact, I'd love to pare down the shows I already watch, but I'm afraid I'd be committed to rehab after suffering from withdrawals. One day at a time.
