I saw a preview for her reality show and set the DVR to record it with the belief that I'd watch an episode and never go back. Fast forward about six weeks and I am still tuning in. Each week I get an hour long glimpse into the life of Bristol Palin courtesy of Lifetime. Now that I've watched
She's mentioned having a blog and I love blogs, so I googled it and hope I have found her actual blog. It looks legit to me. You can check it out here. Of course, I have subscribed by email, so I won't miss any of her future posts.
I wasn't really interested in reading her thoughts as much as I was interested in reading the comments her readers are leaving for her. Let me recommend reading a few of the comments from her on second thought post about the most recent episode. Sheesh. People are just mean. Do we not teach the "if you can't say something nice" rule anymore?
I applaud her for leaving those negative comments out there because she could have them deleted. And I just might have to tune into Dancing with the Stars to support her next endeavor.
I looked at Bristol's IMDB profile and see that she'll be celebrating her 22nd birthday this fall. I believe her son is, or will be, four this year. So, she's a 22 year old, single mother, with a four year old. I'm pointing that out because her parenting skills seem to be a hot topic for criticism from her blog tormentors. I think it would be darn near impossible to find a 22 year old who parents flawlessly. I am a soon to be 35 year old mom and I don't parent flawlessly. There's no such thing as a flawless parent. How many times have you heard "act your age"? Well, she is acting her age. She's 22 for crying out loud! Yet, she's still more responsible than most of us. How many folks can say they've bought and sold a house before their 22nd birthday? Not many, I'm guessing.
Although I don't see eye to eye on some of the things she says and does, I will continue to watch her show and wish good things for her and her son. I'm happy to see a young woman, whose life is unfolding in ways that she hadn't expected, openly exercising her right to support the things that she believes in. Have you supported something that you believe in today?
