How Do You Prepare Topics For Your Blog?

I am in no way a blogging expert.  Maybe I could say I am an expert blog reader?  Anyway, as I have tried to do a little writing lately, I've been wondering how other people plan or pick the topics they discuss on their blog.  I've seen blogging planners, but I have never been very good at using a planner for anything.  I'm a pretty big fan of lists, but I find that I usually just end up with a big stack of stuff that really never amounts to anything.  I'm also not very good at keeping a pen and paper with me at all times.  I do sometimes send myself a text if I happen upon something I think would make a good topic here on the blog.  That's really the thing that works best for me, since I almost always have my phone handy.

So, how do you do your blog topics?  Do you have a calendar where you plan out your ideas?  Or do you just let the topics fall where they may like I do?

  1. Well, to say I am a blogging expert would be a blatant lie, tee hee. So I just simply blog what is on my mind. What bothers me, what makes me happy, what I want to share. Sometimes an idea comes to my head and I note it down in my drafts on Blogger and return to it when I do not know what to write. Sometimes I pick up one of the topics and sometimes, when I don't feel like writing about any of the topics, I close the draft section again. Sometimes the blog post evolves in my head and I have to sit down and write it immediately. Sometimes I write on a subject for days... so, to cut it short, it varies.

I find it difficult to follow a strict routine because I do not feel like wrinting about the same subject every Monday, as an example.

  2. No routine for me. But I tend to write both on and off the cuff. Sometimes I have a bunch of ideas and save them in drafts until I need something. Other times I save them until I am comfortable exposing my fears.

  3. I have a white board hanging beside my desk and when I have an idea or a phrase I want to use, I'll jot it down. I also have a few notebooks on my desk for the same thing. When I can't think of anything to write, I peruse my notes until something sparks my interest.
