For Review: September 2012

In a moment of weakness brought on by hunger, I broke my "no playland" rule one morning and took JT to a local fast food joint for breakfast.  Not only was the line forever long and sloooow to boot, we encountered all kinds of nasty in the playland.  I think it's safe to say that it had not been cleaned the day before.  The fries on the floor and old drink cup were a pretty good indication that this establishment is not meeting my expectations.  I was grossed out by the whole experience, especially the band aid in the playland.  Take off your shoes?  Uh, no thanks.  How about issuing a hazmat suit before the kids can play?

It is no secret that Patty is not a fan of coloring.  I couldn't get the phone fast enough one afternoon when she used both hands to color a picture of a turtle.  Just loved seeing her trying to make the best of a less than fun activity!

There's JT enjoying his biscuit at Burger King.  I was happy to learn that you can now order burgers and fries for breakfast!  I am all about a restaurant that serves food items at any time of day.  I don't know why, but I have always loved breakfast for supper.  And now I am quite fond of burgers for breakfast.  Who'd have thought that Burger King and Sonic would be two of my favorite breakfast haunts?  Think it's because not all fast food breakfast is created equal.  You can get a good fast food burger pretty much any place that sells burgers.  But, fast food breakfast is only good in a couple places.

One week Market Place had no Seasoned Meat Tenderizer.  On the next visit I happily snagged two bottles.  Happy, that is, until I got home and noticed these bottles were slightly smaller than the one I'd bought previously.  At 99-cents each, I can hardly complain.  But, complain I am.  I spied a bigger bottle today at Rural King for 99-cents.  I'll have to see if it's as good as my tried and true favorite.  Btw, if you're looking for taco/spaghetti mix, I grabbed a few packets at Rural King for 49-cents each.  Anyone know if they are good?  Will have to make a batch of spaghetti and find out.

There are some things that annoy me and then there are some things you just have to over look because your kids are having a really good time!  The kids had a blast roasting hot dogs and cheetos (yes, cheetos) over an open fire in the front yard in one of our flower beds.  No worries, there haven't been flowers in the bed for at least four years now.  We did try to grow pumpkins in there a few summers ago, but it was a total waste of time.  Luckily, we can now use it for impromptu weenie roasts.  And, if you're wondering, JT said that roasted cheetos were "yummy, delicious"!

We had searched the house trying to locate these three mermaid dollies, as Patty calls them for, like, a  whole month before I finally located them!  Where were they hiding?  In a reusable shopping bag hanging on the door of the "front room".  If you've never visited us, the "front room" is a nice name for my junk room, or the room that will lead to my future episode on Hoarders!  It's actually an extra bedroom and since no one sleeps in it, it's just a dumping ground for all sorts of things.  I still don't know how the bag with the dollies ended up hanging on that door.  But, you can not believe how relieved I was to have finally found them!

We all enjoyed the fall festival this year!  The kiddos won two gold fish at the ping pong ball toss, thanks to JT being tall for his preschool age!  Casey said he could pretty much lean forward from the "line" and drop the balls strait into the fish bowls.  How lucky are we?  Well, I am sad to report that neither of the fish survived 24 hours in our little house of horrors.  We woke up Saturday morning to find one of them belly up, then while we were out buying a replacement fish and a larger tank, momma kitty attacked and killed the other gold fish.  Sad, I know.

We've had that red beta for a while now and had him in a nice little fish bowl in the kitchen.  I don't know how that thing has survived.  I swear no one has been feeding it!  I was worried that the beta and the gold fish could not cohabitate safely, but was reassured by the guy at E&L that they would be fine.  Well, I'm pretty sure the beta was trying to take a nip out of the gold fish just before I snapped this picture!  I had to disconnect the pump last night because the little guy kept getting suctioned to it.  In hindsight, maybe he's just suicidal!  Either way, I'm not betting on Ola, Patty's name for him, to make it much longer.  He just hangs around in the back corner.  It can't be a good sign!

So, now that it is officially October first, I am embarking on a "blog a day" challenge for myself.  The plan is to write one blog post each and every day for the next 31 days.  One down, thirty to go!
