We are X Factor Fans

Ok, so I only started watching the X Factor this season because Britney Spears is a judge.  I just couldn't help myself, I just had to see what she would do week after week.

This is What It's All About

I recently found my way to a blog called Finding Ninee. I forget just how I found my way there, but after years of dealing with the term "developmental delay" I was happy and relieved to find another family in a situation very similar to ours. Kristi recently created a link-love feature on her blog where families like us can connect and share. That's what this post is about. If you found your way here from her page, welcome!

Data Usage is Killing Me!

After a lot of googling, I see that lots of folks are having trouble with their iPhone and its mysterious data usage.  After some more googling, I am attempting to prevent the data usage by setting my phone to access the www only via wifi.  How do you do that?  Changing my phone settings was actually easier than getting this YouTube video to load on my computer.

Getting Sick Stinks

We are at the beginning of Day 6 in our battle with the stomach bug.

JT got his very first trip to the ER and Patty missed three days of school and ended up at the doctor's office.

The stomach bug is relentless.

Why hasn't someone been able to stamp it out or develop a vaccine?

After six days of this, I can definitely say I am thankful for disposable plastic ware and toilet paper!  Oh, and I'm thankful I haven't caught it yet!

An Unwelcome Holiday Guest

How was your Thanksgiving holiday?  For the most part, our weekend was laid back and low key. Well, with the exception of an unwelcome holiday guest. Can you guess who it was? That's right, we've had the horror of hosting the dreaded stomach bug for the past several days.

Trouble with Walmart.com?

I am waking up this Thanksgiving morning to find out my Walmart.com account is missing.  I'm thankful that Walmart sent an email at 4:07 AM to let me know that my account info had been changed.  Was very surprised/confused to pull up the Walmart site and see this weird email address in the sign in box:  sfsdfsdg.sdgsdgsd@ymail.com  Of course, the phone number in the Walmart email isn't open yet.  Because it's Thanksgiving!  Anyone else experiencing this problem?

'Tis the Season for Giving

Here's something I don't think I've talked about here on the little ol' blog....

I almost always say "no thanks" when asked to donate a dollar at the checkout register.

Cruel much?  I think not.

A New Director of Special Ed

Did you know the new Director of Special Education has been selected?!  You can read about it here.  I'm looking forward to seeing how a change in leadership affects the climate of special education in our district, aren't you?  Personally, I would have liked to see the board of ed select an individual who had previously served as a director of special education in another school district.  But, I have to say 17+ years in special education is promising.  I don't see a job listing for the position vacated by Fogle (district special education teacher consultant).  Any hoo, please join me in offering Ms. Fogle a round of congratulations and a warm welcome to her new position!

Happy Veterans Day....Belated!

I'm late posting a Happy Veterans Day wish to all the Veterans in my life.  Thank you for your bravery: Dad (Vietnam), Casey (Iraq/Afghanistan), Katie & Danilo (Iraq/Afghanistan), Dan and Paul, just to name a few.

Patty's Daisy troop learned about Veterans last week and when asked "what is a Veteran" one Daisy said "the person you take your animals to!" (or something like that).  I thought it was an absolutely adorable answer!

Kids Say...

JT announced he was going out to the car by himself to get a lego piece that he'd lost misplaced.  I said, "No you can wait for your daddy.".

With an evil look, he plucked this Santa magnet off the side of the fridge and asked, "Do you want me to hide this?"

To which I promptly replied, "Do you want any toys for Christmas?"

I'll let you guess who won.

Side note, that Santa didn't originally have all the red in his beard.  Patty has a thing for coloring things that shouldn't be colored.  And her favorite color is red!

To end a squabble, I fished this pink glasses out of the "stocking stuffer" stockpile I have been amassing.

Patty said, "Now I can see!"  Which immediately made me think I should get her eyes rechecked!

She just reminded me of Margaret in the Dennis the Menace movie so much!

And she kept bringing them to me to "wash" them.  Don't know what she was getting all over the lenses, but she sure did get them dirty!

Thank you, Target dollar spot, for all the entertaining moments!

One of the things I love about being a mom...

One of my absolute favorite things about being a mom is the moment when my kid falls asleep in my arms.  Tonight, JT conked out snuggled up with me on the couch....watching The Vampire Diaries.  Surprisingly, he doesn't have nightmares!

My child is NOT autistic!

I have a child in special education.
I have learned very important things about special education over the past nine months.
