OUCH! That hurt!
If you can't tell from the photo, that's a picture of my elbow after I crashed and burned in our driveway Wednesday morning. And, yes, it really REALLY hurt! I can not recall the last time I had any kind of scrape like that and I'm not joking when I say those things hurt! Really, really hurt! Kids, be sure to wear your protective gear. If I had gotten this from falling off a bicycle (instead of just being stupid) I'd never get back on that bicycle. Seriously. I'd just walk everywhere.
Ok, here's how it happened. Our SUV-type vehicle has a hatch opening on the back. So, I had climbed up and was on my way back down when my foot got caught on that trailer hitch thingy (the round thing in the picture on the right). I still don't know exactly how that happened. But, the next thing I knew I was lying on the ground and JT was frozen a few feet away from me. I know he was talking, because that's what he does, nonstop.
I remember telling him, just let me lay here for a minute. I remember him asking, where's your phone. And something else about calling the hospital and the doctor. No, I did not hit my head, thankfully. I just needed to access the damage before I sent for reinforcements. I quickly realized that I was okay, for the most part. So, I slowly sat up. No severe pain anywhere, that's a good sign. I slowly turned my arm and got the first glimpse of my elbow. Yikes! That's a lot of blood and dirt. It's really going to sting when I wash it! But, thank goodness my hip came out of the incident unscathed. You see, I have a bad hip due to having arthritis for the past twenty-six years. Yep, I'm an old soul. And of course, I had to land on my bad side! I guess all those layers of fat offered some protection. Ha ha.
So, two days later, I can report that my elbow is still in agony. I can't explain why soap doesn't make it burn, but plain ol' water sets it on fire! Last night, my kids wanted to kiss the band aid. I just wanted them to stay a good ten feet away from the band aid! We settled on blowing kisses at my elbow from a safe distance. Kids are so sweet.
Oh, and if you're wondering. A band aid does not make everything better. Nope. That's just an old wives tale, I guess. Cause I've had a band aid on this boo-boo for two days now and it still doesn't feel better! Maybe I need to use one of those Snoopy band aids. Maybe that makes all the difference?
Side Note: is band aid really two words or is the spell check just messing with me?
