Martin Luther King, Jr

Patty's girl scout troop meets in a first grade classroom at her school.  The other day, the teacher mentioned she'd been teaching her class about Martin Luther King, Jr.  After the lesson, a kid asked if Mr. King watched Sponge Bob.  And, since my brain works in a crazy way, I began to wonder if there were any children's programs at the time Mr. King would himself have been a first grade student.

I know, I know.  Of all the wonderful things to research about him, I'm looking up cartoons during his childhood.  I can't help it.  I was curious.

So, after looking up his age, I decided he would have been in first grade around 1937.  And then after looking up television programs in 1937 I came to the conclusion that he probably wasn't watching television at all during his childhood.  More than likely, the young Martin Luther King was enjoying radio programming instead.

I didn't read that as a fact anywhere, it's just an assumption I made.
