So, Patty and I listened to 98.7 on the way to school this morning and it just happened to be news time. If you know me at all, you should be proud that I was listening to the news at all! And, no, the juice on 96 sto doesn't count as real news.
Now, I can't say I'm any kind of fan of Joan Rivers but I can say I was surprised to hear about her Costco protesting! I mean, old ladies handcuffing themselves to shopping carts ranks right up there with Evelyn Couch* ramming the little car that took her spot in the grocery store parking lot! You can read about Joan's protest on the uber-reliable E!News and checkout her website here.
Here's the sitch...Ms. Rivers says Costco banned the sale of her book titled "I Hate Everyone...Starting With Me". I don't know why a big chain store would go to the trouble of "banning" anything. Stores sell all kinds of crap all of the time. I'm just guessing that it has less to do with "banning" and more to do with a profit scenario. But, that's just me guessing. I didn't read that as a fact anywhere. Just so we're clear.
I love it when you can get a little preview of a book on the amazon website. Here's a screen print from Joan's book...
Oh my gosh, I am going to have to read this book. I am predicting this will be a "can't put it down" kind of book. Plus, I can get free shipping with a $25 purchase and I have a couple other things on my amazon wish list! Happy early birthday to me!
In other news, I thought Costco was the west coasts' version of Sams Club, but after clicking through the store locator I found out that there is a Costco in Nashville and another one in Louisville. Good to know. I think that's the store from the movie with Jessica Simpson and Dax Shepard, too. I forget the name of that one, though. And, I am really liking Joan's hair-do in her website photo. I may have to bring it with me to the beauty shop next time I'm ready for a trim.
*That's a Fried Green Tomatoes ref in case you're not as old as I am. "Face it girls. I'm older and I have more insurance." Love it! Conicidentally Fried Green Tomatoes the movie was based on Fried Green Tomatoes the book. I've read it and I loved it!
